SWR®
will proudly display its best-selling line of entry level bass combo
amplifiers, the newly upgraded LA Series™, at this winter’s NAMM show in
Anaheim, California. Built with the quality that has become SWR’s
trademark, the three amplifiers in the LA Series bring professional SWR
tone and versatile features in a package that will appeal to both
beginners and working pros alike.
The SWR LA Series—including the LA15, LA12 and LA10 bass amplifiers—also
offers the best value in combo bass amps available. Retailers have had
tremendous success with the line due to the brand name’s impeccable
reputation, and consumers have been attracted the LA Series’ features and
tones, which are most often found on much more expensive amplifiers.
“The LA Series of amplifiers represent everything that SWR was built on,”
says Bryan Beller, Marketing Manager for SWR. “These amps are perfect for
beginners, as well as for the more seasoned players who want an SWR combo
amp that’s portable. They’re very versatile, they’re great sounding,
they’re tough, and they look and feel like professional pieces of gear,
but you won’t need to take out a second mortgage to afford one.”
The LA Series amps are ideal for beginners looking for a great-sounding
first bass amp, pros and weekend warriors who want the SWR sound in their
living room or bedroom, traveling pros who need a backstage practice amp,
and anyone else looking for a great-sounding, small-to-medium gig bass
combo amp.
All of the amplifiers in the LA Series feature a classic SWR preamp
designed mainly by SWR’s original engineer and founder, Steve W. Rabe. The
preamp has a built-in Aural Enhancer™ circuitry, a “tone shaping” audio
circuit which brings out fundamental low notes, reduces certain unwanted
frequencies, and enhances the high end. LA Series amps also include an
easy to use 3-band EQ, 1/4” post-EQ Line-Out/Tuner Out, Stereo Headphone
Output with automatic speaker defeat for silent practicing, and Mix Input
for practicing along with CD players or drum machines.
Additional enhancements contained in this line-wide upgrade include
heavy-duty edgemount handles, an extended-depth cabinet design for more
accurate low end response, and a new fast-acting automatic limiter
circuit.
The SWR LA Series features three amplifiers with different speaker and
power configurations, including: The LA15, a 100-watt, 15” speaker plus
tweeter bass combo amp with an MSRP of $499.99; the LA12, a 60-watt, 12”
speaker plus tweeter bass combo with an MSRP of $399.99; and the LA10, a
35-watt, 10” speaker bass combo with an MSRP of $299.99.
The SWR LA Series of combo bass amplifiers can be seen and heard at this
winter’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California.
For the first time ever,
Jackson® Guitars will offer an entire series of value priced instruments
based on the most popular Jackson body shapes. The new additions to the
JS30 Series, which will include the JS30RR Rhoads, the JS30KE Kelly, the
JS30KV King V and the JS30WR Warrior, will be introduced at this winter’s
NAMM show in Anaheim, California.
These new JS30 Series models are the result of numerous requests from both
consumers and retailers asking for lower priced versions of these admired
Jackson designs. Each model in the series is built to Jackson exacting
specifications of materials and quality craftsmanship, and they offer many
of the same features found on their respective Professional Series
counterparts.
Additionally, each model in the JS30 Series comes with a fixed bridge and
string-through-body tailpiece, a feature that is increasingly popular
among Jackson loyalists, and that has been only available on custom order
instruments up until now.
Says John Walker, Marketing Manager for Jackson Guitars, “Jackson players
have always been very devoted to the brand, and we listen to what they
want and to what they expect from us when it comes to new guitars. The new
JS30 Series models are everything they’ve been asking for: a well-made,
versatile hard rock guitar line with classic Jackson body shapes, unique
features and a great price.”
Each new guitar in the JS30 Series comes with two high output Jackson CVR2
humbucking pickups with a 3-position toggle switch and master volume and
tone controls. They also feature fast, hard maple necks with real Indian
rosewood fretboards, adjustable truss rods and Jackson chrome-plated
die-cast tuning machines. The new JS30 Series guitars are available in
three different colors: Black; Dark Metallic Blue; and Dark Metallic Red.
They will be introduced and on display for the first time at Jackson’s
booth at this winter’s NAMM show. US MSRP for each model is $427.99
Based
on an overwhelming positive response from both consumers and retailers,
Fender® Musical Instruments Corporation is proud to announce that it will
expand its line of Showmaster® guitars this winter with the introduction
of three new models. The new Showmaster guitars—featuring a choice of
highly figured exotic wood or metallic finished carved tops—will be
displayed for the first time at Fender’s NAMM booth in Anaheim.
The sleek new Showmaster guitars offer incredible versatility for
guitarists who push their instrument to its limits, and who also
appreciate the elegance and style of a finely crafted piece of art.
Stunning transparent finishes over quilted or flame tops highlight these
beautiful guitars. Both the Showmaster HH Quilt and Showmaster SSS Quilt
feature a basswood body with a carved quilted Bubinga top, which offers a
tone unique to this exotic wood and comes with a Transparent Brown finish
that shows off the figured details of the grain.
For players who prefer the tones associated with ash, the new Showmaster
HH Flame and Showmaster SSS Flame comes equipped with carved flame ash top
over basswood body and Cherry sunburst finish. Both options come with a
matching finish headstock that completes the look.
To offer players a choice of pickup configurations, each of the new
Showmaster guitars comes with two options. For high output players, there
is a dual humbucking setup with a Seymour Duncan® SH-1N RP ’59 Reverse
Polarity pickup in the neck position, and a SHPGP-1b Pearly Gates Plus
pickup in the bridge position. For players who prefer single coils
pickups, there is a three single coil setup with one Seymour Duncan
SSL52-1 5-2 in the neck position, one SSL52-1 5-2 RwRp in the middle
position, and one SSL52-1b 5-2 in the bridge position.
With players in mind who prefer a more sleek and modern look, the new
Fender Showmaster HH Black Out™ guitar is an ideal choice. The Showmaster
HH Blackout features the same basswood body and carved top and dual
humbucking pickups of the figured models, but it comes with an edgier
choice of either Atlantic Blue Metallic or Black finishes.
To get the most possible out of these instruments, the new Showmaster
guitars feature a contoured set neck and 24 frets for access to the
highest notes. Coupled with the twin pivot point tremolo bridge that comes
standard on all of the new models, the new Showmaster guitars allow
players an unlimited range of playability.
US MSRP for each of the new Showmaster models is 856.99. They can be seen
and heard for the first time at Fender’s booth at this winter’s NAMM show
in Anaheim, California.
Hughes & Kettner is
launching a new line of bass amps called Quantum, created with the goal of
providing the punch of a tube amp with the flexibility and precision of a
solid state amp. The initial Launch consists of four combos.
First up is the QC310, having a single 10" speaker, boasting 250 watts,
and weighing in at 38.5 lbs.(17.5kg). Next we've got the QC412, which has
a 12" speaker, pumps out a massive 400 watts and again comes in at 43 lbs.
(19.5kg). Moving along, the next combo ready to grace the stage is the
QC415, this time a 15" speaker has been installed also producing 400 watts
of power. The weight of this one? 53 pounds (24kg). Finally, on the
initial launch there's the QC421, a 2 x 10", 400 watt combo weighing in at
64 lbs. (29kg). All share the same front and rear panel
controls/connections.
The four main ingredients that make up this unique new bass range are the
power amp section, the preamp, the speakers and cabinet construction.
Here's the detailing behind it:
Seasoned players know the deal: 100 tube-driven watts simply sound louder
than 100 solid state-powered watts. The reason for this is that tube power
amps' complex dynamic properties enhance audio signals with transients.
These added frequencies enrich the spectrum, making each note sound more
concise, more explosive, and louder. In other words, our perception of
volume is shaped not only by pure output power; the content of the signal
is equally important.
Though the musical qualities of tube-driven power amps are heartwarming,
their weight-related drawbacks are backbreaking and budget-busting. Due to
the nature of tube designs, they are bigger, heavier, more expensive and
more sensitive than their solid state kin. The ideal solution would be a
solid state power amp with the dynamic, frequency enriching qualities of
tube circuitry. And that's what Dynavalve technology is all about.
Dynavalve technology is the product of many years spent researching tube
power amps' tone-shaping processes. Rather than coloring the sound of a
solid state amp, the Dynavalve circuit "forces" the amp to behave just
like its tube-driven counterpart. The result: In comparison to
conventional solid state power amps with the same power ratings, Dynavalve
yields far better tone, much more sound pressure and greater punch,
according to the company.
The preamp section plays a pivotal role in the overall design of a bass
amp. It is the interface between bass player and instrument on one side
and the amp and power circuitry on the other. Quantum amps' inputs feature
the Tube Touch Circuit. Resistant to high gain saturation, it's designed
to respond to the players' touch. Another practical feature for the
gigging musician is the Tube Growl knob, which dials in compression and
tube saturation.
Quantum Series' voicing section uses the company's Pure Parallel EQ
technology (a breed of EQ otherwise found in high-end studio gear) which
reduces undesirable filter effects, transforming the four-band EQ into a
more effective, sound-sculpting tool.
All Quantum amps are loaded with advanced speakers featuring Neodym
magnets. Not only does this technology reduce weight significantly, it
also creates a more concentrated magnetic field for improved impulse
response the company claims. Speakers trigger faster and with greater
precision, ensuring truer response to the player's touch and enhancing
loudness.
Development throughout the range included the requirement to render the
crucial overtone spectrum with uniformity. The projection pattern of
conventional amps' high-frequency horns is a tight cone. And because these
horns are driven by crossovers, phase shifting is inevitable. This is why
Quantum series loudspeakers were designed with integrated HF systems.
While the 10" speakers use parallel membranes (that is, a dual cone
design) to this end, the 12" and 15" woofers feature a completely new
technology. A machined aluminum dome (DuraDome) renders the voice coil's
high frequency output. Both of these technologies deliver a wide pattern
of throw, and a rich overtone spectrum that blends with the main
membrane's low and mid-frequency response.
Many years experience designing, tuning and manufacturing loudspeaker
enclosures enabled the Quantum development team to build cabinets that --
like fine acoustic instruments - make the most of resonances.
Intelligently engineered and arrayed panels and bracings, and the
housing's robust, six-ply Okum plywood (which weighs about half as much as
standard cabinet woods) deliver low-end projection and balanced midrange
resonance. Because the enclosure is designed to project these resonances
uniformly across its entire surface area, the bass signal can be localized
precisely from any position on the stage, according to Hughes & Kettner.
For more info on the Quantum series you can visit a new dedicated website
that has been set up at
www.quantum-amps.com.
Yamaha Drum artist Russ Miller
had the idea of taking old studio technology and packaging it in a unit
that can be used in the studio or on the road. The SKRM-100 Subkick is a
low-frequency capture device that picks up the low frequencies
(100Hz-2000Hz) that a normal microphone can't. When used in conjunction
with a normal internal microphone (for the attack), your kick drum has a
jaw-dropping bottom end like you've never heard before.
6.5" Speaker/Diaphragm
We took a 6.5" speaker and shock-mounted it into a 10" drum shell and
reverse-wired it to an XLR jack to convert the speaker diaphragm into a
microphone diaphragm. This allows Subkick to pick up the low-end that a
normal microphone can't.
10" x 5" Birch/Mahogany Shell
Mounting the speaker into the shell focuses the sound to direct the signal
into the diaphragm. Using our shell makes the Subkick as easy to use on
the road as it is in the studio and it looks great with any drum kit.
Comes with specially designed stand
Subkick has our tom-mounting bracket mounted directly to the shell. This
mounts to a CL-940 ball clamp that slides into the base of a double braced
800 series snare stand.
Multiple Applications
The flexibility of the stand allows you to use the SKRM-100 for a variety
of applications in live or studio situations. It can be used in
conjunction with an internal microphone on bass drums and floor toms,
djembe, bass guitar cabinets, pianos...your imagination is the only
limitation.
